Care Quality Commission (CQC)
The care quality commission is the independent regulator for health and social care in England. They aim to make sure that every health and social care service is safe, effective, compassionate, and high quality whilst also encouraging services to improve. Every care service and registered manager must be registered with the CQC. It is a very lengthy and detailed process which requires the writing of protocols and procedures as well as a detailed interview with a CQC assessor. Little Miracles Sonography is very proud our ultrasound clinic in Delph near Oldham is registered with the CQC and will continue to work with them to constantly improve our service. We aim to be the premier private baby scan clinic to Manchester and Huddersfield.
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
The HCPC protect the public by regulating health and care professionals in the UK. Ultrasound is a specialism of Radiography or Midwifery. I am a qualified Diagnostic Radiographer and therefore must be registered with the HCPC to be able to work in the NHS in the UK. The HCPC set out the standards we must work by and what qualifications we must hold to be able to work. You do not need to be HCPC registered to scan in a private baby scanning clinic you can just train on the job and be able to produce images. At Little Miracles Sonography we do not believe that this is good enough care for our clients. All scanning staff at our clinic MUST be medically qualified and registered. Although our scans are non-diagnostic you can feel safe in the knowledge that you are being scanned by someone who will be able to identify any unexpected findings and have the knowledge of the NHS to be able to refer you to the appropriate place. We aim to be the premier private 2D 3D 4D baby scan clinic in Oldham easily accessible from Manchester and Huddersfield. Another role of the HCPC is to ensure that all professionals registered with it keep up with current knowledge and evidence-based practice. Every 2 years we may be randomly selected to submit evidence of our continuing professional development.
The Society of Radiographers
The society of Radiographers is our trade union. As a radiographer I pay a monthly fee to be registered, they ensure safe workplaces for radiographers and offer support and representation if needed.
The society of radiographers is a good place for training courses and study days as well as publishing up to date clinical studies and reviews in their monthly magazine. Little Miracles Sonography is a private baby scan clinic near Oldham, we believe being a member of the SoR is important to stay current in our field and offer the best ultrasound service to our customers across Manchester and Huddersfield.
